| Family to Family Respite |
|
This program was designed to support families with a child with a disability. Respite is a family-family respite program where the child goes to the caregiver’s home for respite.
Our goals are to provide:
1. Parents with a break from the demands of continuous care and an opportunity to focus on relationships;
2. Siblings with the opportunity to spend time with parents while the children who are in respite have new experiences and opportunities to expand their circle of friends;
3. Caregivers with new experiences as they build their relationship with the respite child.
Families receive a set amount of days per year. (Our year runs from April 1 – March 31). This number is determined by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Families have the flexibility to decide how the days are allocated throughout the year. Parents and caregivers work together to find the best use of the days provided to each family.
